Petroleum Spill in Clinton River

Up to 100 gallons of petroleum were found to be leaking into the Cliton River this January, so far authorities haven't been able to pinpoint the source of the pollution. The leak was discovered Friday morning after a resident noticed a sheen moving down the river near Budd Park in Clinton Township. Absorbent booms were put in place to collect the petroleum until the water runs clear of petroleum. If anyone with information is urged to contact the Macomb County Public Works' 24-hour pollution notification number at 877-679-4337.
