Powerbait Scented Crankbait try on Lake St. Clair – Power Crank & Power Chub

So I bought two unique crankbaits to try out on Lake St. Clair this summer, the long forgotten Powerbait Power Crank and Power Chub. I never tried these before, but I have used the Powerbait Power Rattle off the Grosse Pointe Shores Pier back in the 90s and absolutely crushed the smallmouth bass.

These crankbaits are a little rarer than the Power Rattle and I had to seriously watch eBay for the last three months for them to finally pop on an auction. With my luck, I'll go out there this spring, take the first cast, and a 50 inch musky comes along and breaks me off, lol. I wouldn't at all be surprised...

I really have no clue how the action is on either of these, including the Power Chub. Hopefully they still run straight and don't need any tuning.

Anyways, these probably need recharging, so I'll have to pick up some of the original Berkley Powerbait Attractant to spray these, do give them that enticing scent. However, it may be worth trying without the scent, just the action the soft plastic tail gives off may be enough to entice come big bronzies.

If you're looking to purchase a few of these, even a few Powerbait Power Rattles, eBay is the only place where you're going to find them. They've been discontinued since the 1990s, but suprisingly you'll still find some that come in the original packaging. I suspect there's some hardcore fishing collectors that buy these at garage sales or estate sales, then resell them on eBay.
